We travelled to Gardiz close to the region where a French Canadian
journalist was attacked in a nearby village. The
Americans had been bombing the mountains about three
kilometres away. As we drove back to base my journalist stopped to make a satellite
phone call. In the distance, several Apache helicopters were circling, a sign they are about to attack someone. The sensible thing would be to put the camera on the ground in case it was mistaken for a shoulder launched missile.
After making several passes the helicopters flew away
from us.
